Authenticity & Our Promise

We want you to know what you're buying.

Every item at Fable & Flair is individually sourced, inspected, researched, and photographed by us. When we identify an item by a particular designer, maker, material, or era, we do so based on the information available to us and our examination of the piece.

Designer & Branded Items

We examine branded items for details consistent with authentic merchandise, which may include construction, materials, labels, hardware, date or serial codes, markings, and other identifying characteristics.

When appropriate, we also research the piece using available reference materials and comparable authenticated examples.

We will never knowingly offer a counterfeit item for sale, and we frequently use Authentic Detective to verify designer items. If a COA is available it will be included with the listing.

When We're Not Certain

Resale occasionally gives us a mystery.

If we cannot confidently verify a maker, material, age, or other characteristic, we'll say so. You may see language such as unbranded, unsigned, attributed to, appears to be, or unknown maker in our listings.

We would rather leave a question unanswered than turn a guess into a fact.

Materials, Jewelry & Gemstones

Vintage and pre-owned jewelry can be particularly difficult to identify with certainty. When useful, we may use available testing methods to help evaluate metals or gemstones.

Unless specifically stated otherwise, these observations should not be interpreted as independent laboratory certification or a professional appraisal.

Any hallmarks, maker's marks, test results, or other relevant information we rely upon will be described as accurately as possible.

Our usual testing tools:  Presidium gem tester (Stones).  Simichrome (Bakelite). Acid testing (Precious metals)

Our Promise

Honest representation matters more to us than making a sale.

We do our best to research what we sell, disclose condition accurately, photograph the actual item, and distinguish what we know from what we believe.

If we discover that we've made a material error in a listing, we want to know about it—and we want the opportunity to make it right.

Good things deserve another chapter. They also deserve to be represented honestly.
